Tenute Nicosia - Fondo Filara

This large selection of organic wines, made from the principal Sicilian grape varieties grown on Etna and in the Vittoria area, represent the highest expression of Cantine Nicosia’s production philosophy: the utmost respect for the raw materials and great Sicilian winemaking history, the development of precious native grape varieties and the lands most suitable for their cultivation, the sustainable production carried out both in the vineyards and the cellar.

Classic Cerasuolo di Vittoria

DOCG Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico

A typical red wine from southeastern Sicily that combines the intensity of Nero d’Avola and the freshness of Frappato. The floral and fruity notes, together with a warm, full-bodied and harmonious taste, create a perfect blend of persistence and drinkability.

Grape varieties: Nero d’Avola 60% - Frappato 40%

Vineyards: sandy soil, situated at approximately 200 m above sea level; training system: espalier spurred cordon for the Nero d’Avola grapes, guyot for the Frappato grapes

Raccolta: by hand into crates, in the end of September

Maceration: for approximately 10-15 days

Fermentation: controlled temperature (24-26°C)

Ageing: mainly in stainless steel vats, 5-6 months in barrique and at least 6 months in the bottle

Alcohol content: 13,5% vol.

Colour: cherry-red colour

Nose: a rich aromatic profile featuring notes of red fruit and floral hints

Palate: warm, full-bodied and smooth taste with evident sweet tannins

Food Pairings: wonderful accompaniment to roasts, grilled meats, small game, egg plant ‘caponata’ and semi-aged cheeses, such as Ragusano DOP

Serving temperature: 16-18°C
